It is Good to Give Thanks!

http://sidedish.dmagazine.com/2008/11/10/thanksgiving-day-dining-options/The hustle and bustle of every day life, it is easy to forget to properly thank God for all that He does for us. The seemingly endless list of chores to do, places to go, carpools to drive and children to tend to take up all our time and energy. We fall into bed exhausted, perhaps mumbling a quick prayer just before falling asleep.

Even for those of us that have an active prayer life, we find the majority of our prayer time is spent telling God what we want, instead of thanking Him for what He has already given us and done for us.

Thanksgiving is the one day a year set aside for expressing our thanks to God. Even on Thanksgiving day, that
24 hour time frame once a year, we still find ourselves caught up in the hustle and bustle of cooking, traveling, entertaining, and like most other nights, Thanksgiving night finds us collapsing in the bed exhausted.

Did we really take time to express our thanks to God for His blessings of the past year? Sure we say table grace before we dig into the Thanksgiving feast spread before us, but did we really express thankfulness to God from our hearts?

Hebrews 13:15 says- let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.

The fruit of our lips are our words. The sacrifice of praise is praising God even when we don't feel like it, or don't have time, or had rather be digging into the bounty on the table Thanksgiving Day. We are to offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually. Giving thanks to God should be as natural to us as breathing. Developing an attitude of gratitude, as it's called.

2nd Corinthians 9:11 says-Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth though us
thanksgiving to God. The very bounty of food set on our Thanksgiving table, our loved ones sitting around the table, should cause thanksgiving
to God to well up in us and be expressed by the fruit of our lips.

If you think you have nothing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving because of unpleasant circumstances going on in your life, think again. You woke up this morning, you are able to read this - that's enough to start thanking God with.
